We have been studying "Lord only You can change me " from Kay Arthur which is bible study about the Beatitudes, from Matthew 5 The Sermon on the Mount.

It has been an intensifying study where we learned how we have to live as godly people . As we have gone through the study book first seeing our poverty and mourning over our sin and how it hurts the Lord and being meek, and then come to the point of being right with God and people than follows, the being merciful and pure in heart and peacemakers as a result Each chapter was build up out of days and at the end of the day there were questions At the end of the chapter there was the small group discussions. It was well received by our ladies , opening up about and building each other up in the ways of the Lord. We have on average 10 ladies

Ladies Evening Bible Study: meets> every other Thursday at 8:00 P.M Contact: Jenny - 519-247-3727

There are at least 12 ladies present at the study. This year we have been studying the 'Letter to the Ephesians' by Rev. Henry VanderKam.

We are learning about our redemption in Christ; the mystery of the Church; the Jew and the Gentile brought together; the pattern of life for the believers, and living lives that bring glory to God.

This Bible study has encouraged us to search Scripture and to grow in faith and knowledge as we study the Word of God together.

"But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33)

We are coming to the close of another year in the Kingdom Seekers' program and this year has gone well. We have six Counselors this year: Margaret Van Rooyen, Judy Korten and Evelyn Zekveld leading the Bible Lessons and Arlene VanderDeen, Hilary Higgins and Anje Boer taking care of the crafts.

We have 16 girls in our group divided into three classes. We meet for two hours on the first and third Wednesday of the month. A regular meeting consists of devotions-singing, Bible lesson, snack and craft/game time/badge work.

This year we have been studying lessons on The Body, Proverbs and the Beatitudes.

Special events included singing at Strathmere Lodge, a Father/Daughter evening, singing at the Christmas Church Supper, bowling with the Cadets, and our annual Tea with the Senior Ladies of the congregation. We also hope yet, the Lord willing, to have a sleepover at the church, and to attend the Kingdom Seekers' Rally on April 9 in Hamilton.

We are thankful to God for the privilege to teach the girls of our church and community about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and His Word and to enjoy fellowship with them. We pray that He will continue to bless our efforts.

On behalf of the Kingdom Seekers' Counselors, Evelyn Zekveld

Cadets: For boys 8 - 14 years old meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. Contact: John - 519-245-6830

The cadets meet the first and third Wednesday of the Month. We have anywhere from 10 to 15 boys from Grade 3 to 8 attending on a regular basis. Seven children are from outside of our church community, including two South Korean children who attend SCCS and staying with host families from the church. We meet as a single group of boys.

We have two dedicated counselors; Adrian Van Royen and John Roffel. At each meeting, the cadets gather as a group for devotions and opening exercises. Opening exercises include:

-A recitation of out Cadet verse, from John 14:15 "If you love Me you will keep My commandments.

-A recitation of our Cadet Pledge: Thankful to God for his Gifts to me, I pledge myself to be ready to serve my God, my parents, my country, my neighbour and my corps.

-A recitation of our Cadet Code: A Cadet must be reverent, obedient, compassionate, consecrated, trustworthy, pure, grateful, loyal, industrious and cheerful.

-And singing our cadet song; Living for Jesus.

-Opening prayer

This year we are studying "The Lord's Way in the Life of Joseph". We have a large and sometimes rambunctious group of boys with a wide range of capabilities. We attempt as much as practical to mix up the lessons, quizzes, games and crafts to address everyone's unique talents and abilities.

We are thankful for the opportunity that parents have given us to not only help lead these young boys in biblical life lessons, but also the opportunity to help develop other life skills in crafts and activities. Leading the cadets has also been rewarding as counselors. We are often surprised by the maturity of our cadets, the open and frank discussions that we have and their constant willingness to share.

We could use some help as our group of boys has nearly doubled in size. If you are looking for an opportunity to serve, I would encourage you to consider being a cadet counselor. Leading cadets is not only an opportunity for to give of your time and efforts, but in turn we can attest to also receiving encouragement and life lessons that help us too grow in faith and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Youth Group: Ages 15 to 19 years old meet 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month Contact:Alvin - 519-289-0648

Young Adults: All singles age 20 years old and up meet the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 8:00 p.m. Contact:Karen - 226-663-4679

The young adults have been getting together every first and third Monday of the month. We have recently started a new book, Twenty Controversies That Almost Killed a Church: Paul's Counsel to the Corinthians and the Church Today by Richard L. Ganz. We have been doing two of the chapters per meeting and are pairing up so that we can alternate between leading the lessons. We have been having good discussions with this book. There have not been any social gatherings so far this year, but we are planning on doing a social gathering soon.

Seniors: meet every third Wednesday of the month.

Our meetings begin at 10 a.m. with singing, prayer, Bible reading and of course coffee with goodies. We usually have a time of sharing. Sometimes that's done in story or poetry form or we may share personal experiences and concerns.

We also go on outings together. Last fall we visited Family Flowers, a garden centre near St. Thomas. After seeing the beautiful poinsettias and other Christmas flowers in bloom we traveled to Talbotville where we enjoyed lunch together at a local restaurant.

In the Christmas season we were treated to a delicious dinner prepared and served by our deacons . We felt blessed to have this special time of celebrating Christ's birth in song and fellowship with all seniors in our congregation.

At our February meeting Pastor Zekveld spoke to us on the topic: " God's outlaw, William Tyndale." It was the story of the British reformer who was virtually unknown to most of us. It was because with God's help and of Tyndale's hard work under the most difficult circumstances we now have the Bible in the English language. This humble, God fearing man who spoke seven languages was persecuted and jailed and died at age of 42 at the hand of his persecutors, the Church of Rome. An interesting discussion followed and continued over the lunch hour as we shared soup and buns together with our pastor and Evelyn and Rudy. Our last gathering was held in McLachlan's Sugar bush where we were warmly welcomed by Cathy and the girls and enjoyed a pancake lunch with all the trimmings.

Our upcoming meeting will D.V. be on April 20. At this meeting, Librarian , Mrs Grace Paas will give us some helpful advice about good books and authors . We welcome every senior to join us as we sing and pray together and experience the blessings of the communion of the saints.

Volunteer Circle

The Volunteer Circle is hard at work crafting warm items for the Shkola-internat orphanage in Donetsk. This orphanage cares for children up to age 16. We also send items to a second orphanage for babies. Some of the crafts we make are sold for fundraising to pay for the shipments to Donetsk.

Over the years we've shipped 44 cases of clothing, blankets, shoes, and other donated and handmade things. Recently we've made 134 quilts. Others have knit socks and slippers. The residents at Donetsk greatly appreciate our loving donations and it's a task we hope to continue.

Our greatest need now is for financial donations to pay for the shipments. We currently have five shipments ready to go. There is also a need for material,so we can continue to sew and knit.

We appreciate the support of the congregation as we help our brothers and sisters in Christ.
