Lord’s Day 8, February 19, 2012

Jesus said: Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)  Worship is a day of rest because when we worship truly we are coming to the Place of Rest: Jesus Christ. As we worship God today let us seek all our rest and renewal in the Lord Jesus.

Welcome to our worship services! If you are visiting, we are glad you have joined us today, and pray that you will meet the Lord in our midst. Please stay after the services and fellowship with us.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please pray for Marie Linker who continues to receive care at the Strathroy Hospital. We give thanks for the comfort and strength and both Marie and Harry and their family are receiving from the Lord.

Fenny Huizinga was feeling well enough to return home this week from the hospital. May the Lord continue to strengthen her and be gracious to Hink and Fenny in the days ahead.

Let us remember Ken and Shirley Talsma as they seek further healing, and also daily strength and wisdom from the Lord for the journey God has marked out for them.

Birthday Greetings go out Linda Feddema whose birthday is February 22.

Please pray for the mission service team as they travel to Haiti this Tuesday to carry on with the work of building a church and mission school building for the Presbyterian Church in St. Marc. The team plans to return on Thursday, March 1.

60"' Wedding Anniversary:
Bill and Jean Leistra are thankful to the Lord for giving them 60 years of married life. They would like to celebrate this occasion with an Open House on March 3, 2012, D.V., from 2 - 4 p.m. at Trillium Village auditorium. The congregation is invited.

Many thanks to all those who came out to the Youth Group fundraising games night. A good time of fun and fellowship was had. We raised a good amount of money to help with our trip to the RYS Convention in the summer. Thanks for your support

Persecution and Prayer Update (from the Voice of the Martyrs website)

Islamicextremists behead another believer in Somalia (Source: Compass Direct News)

Islamic extremists belonging to the al Shabaab extremist group in Somalia beheaded a young Christian man just outside Mogadishu last month. Twenty-sixyear-old Zakaria Hussein Omar, who had worked for a Christian humanitarian organization banned by al Shabaab, was murdered on January 2 in Cee-carfiid village. The body of the young man lay undiscovered for about 20 hours before nomads came upon his remains. A close friend who identified Omar's body said Omar had confided in him that he feared for his life when the organization he was working with was banned by the al Shabaab. Omar, an accountant, had converted to Christianity seven years ago while he was living in Ethiopia. He is survived by his wife, his parents, a brother and four sisters.

Last September, militants also decapitated a young Christian man, Guled Jama Muktar, in his home near Mogadishu. Earlier that month, the terrorists beheaded a Christian convert, Juma Nuradin Kamil, in south-westem Somalia.

The Islamic extremists seek to impose a strict version of Shariah (Islamic law), ridding the country of Christianity. The country's president, Sheikh Sharif Sheik Ahmed, has embraced a version of Shariah that mandates the death penalty for those who leave Islam.

Please pray that Omar's wife and family will find peace and rest in Christ. Please pray that the Lord will intercede against the violence facing our brothers and sisters in Somalia. Pray that the gospel will spread like never before in Somalia.
